Title sequence

Title Sequence

Titles

Titles tend to appear in this order:

·         'Your Production Company' Presents (DOKCRA)

·         A film by ‘Name (DOKCRA) – Often the director’

·         Featuring or starring with

·         Female or male star

·         Title or name of the film (DOKCRA) or at the end of the film

·         Also featuring or starring couple of names on separate titles

·         Then a couple of more of the following on separate titles

·         Editing, Music, Cinematography, Casting, Set Designer, Costume Designer, Script

·         Producer could be more than one (DOKCRA, DOKES)

·         Title could be there

·         Can finish with a fade out and some fade out music

It’s extremely important to have opening titles in movies. Our opening will include titles. It is very important because they give the audience a idea of what the film be about and how it may be presented. For example an title appears saying 'Produced by Dokcra' the audience will be able to remember any of his work from the past and decide if they would want to watch the film or not. And large production company such as 'Lions gate' would let the audience to be sure that the film is at a great quality. We will have to create a production company identity logo of our own for example ‘Dokcra’. Along with this identity logo we would have to create a catchy piece of music. A website could help us to produce our own titles. Here is an example of how the titles may look. The titles advertise the producer and actors, the font and background help make a great feeling.

Identity logo
An identity is a logo that becomes noticeable of big film companies. In the film business the most famous companies are known as the 'Big six'. Below are there identity’s logo:

A famous identity logo for example would be the 'Lions gate' logo. It’s also likely to have several of a famous Identity logo. It is usually done to help the identity logo to fit in well with the genre of the movie.

We will aim to create a great identity logo. Hopefully one that can includes thriller parts like the lions gate similarity below. The colour scheme gives the identity logo a scary and dark look. I would like to present a part like this. We will need to think about a name and logo such as dokcra.

Preliminary Task Evaluation

Preliminary Task Evaluation

Evaluation

In my groups preliminary task we had experienced number of technical difficulties. We had to film 4 times which I feel bad about it because affected the timing of our work in a bad way. However there are still many parts of the thriller and demanded use of the shots. There are still markings of match on action, eye line match and shot reverse shot.  Below is my full evaluation

SHOTS:

Eye line match:

This is an eye line match that we had used. Mohibur has been seen looking at something (a folder in his hand which has files inside). From the shot it appears that Mohibur is looking at a folder with files inside which shows a continuity.

Match on action:
We have used match on action when we have seen Andrew walk through door. Unfortunately the scene jumps a bit. To not have this type of problem again we will do the opening much longer to avoid that problem. The level of continuity will be obtained.

 Shot reverse shot:
During the conversation between Andrew and Mohibur we used the shot reverse hot.

Close Up:
We had used shot reverse shot and a close up in the above photo to show Andrews anger. We also had a close up of Mohibur getting pulled to the table.

 Low Angle:

We had to take a low angle shot because Andrew was standing up. Then Andrew is the one 'calling the shots'

 Crane:
We had a scene where we had a shot that was from a high angle that’s what they call a crane shot. This shot lets us see the full argument between Mohibur and Andrew.

Close up/low angle:
This shot make the audience want to know who this person is.

Mid shot:
This shot is really good because Andrew nor the audience know where the mysterious man is because he is right behind Andrew.

Technical capability
Sometimes the footage was a bit shaky but that is due to many problems. The tripod that we had wasn’t that productive. The footage filmed on the tripod was on a wonky angle so we decided to film several shots handheld which was successful. We hope that we will not have this problem in our Thriller opening.

Overall
Overall I think that the problems we had experienced was not too bad on our preliminary task. There is use of good shots and camera angles and continuity. Our Thriller piece could be made stronger if the acting was a much more serious. We will film an investigation piece and I think the range of camera angles makes it more interesting to watch.
