Preliminary Task Evaluation

Preliminary Task Evaluation

Evaluation

In my groups preliminary task we had experienced number of technical difficulties. We had to film 4 times which I feel bad about it because affected the timing of our work in a bad way. However there are still many parts of the thriller and demanded use of the shots. There are still markings of match on action, eye line match and shot reverse shot.  Below is my full evaluation

SHOTS:

Eye line match:

This is an eye line match that we had used. Mohibur has been seen looking at something (a folder in his hand which has files inside). From the shot it appears that Mohibur is looking at a folder with files inside which shows a continuity.

Match on action:
We have used match on action when we have seen Andrew walk through door. Unfortunately the scene jumps a bit. To not have this type of problem again we will do the opening much longer to avoid that problem. The level of continuity will be obtained.

 Shot reverse shot:
During the conversation between Andrew and Mohibur we used the shot reverse hot.

Close Up:
We had used shot reverse shot and a close up in the above photo to show Andrews anger. We also had a close up of Mohibur getting pulled to the table.

 Low Angle:

We had to take a low angle shot because Andrew was standing up. Then Andrew is the one 'calling the shots'

 Crane:
We had a scene where we had a shot that was from a high angle that’s what they call a crane shot. This shot lets us see the full argument between Mohibur and Andrew.

Close up/low angle:
This shot make the audience want to know who this person is.

Mid shot:
This shot is really good because Andrew nor the audience know where the mysterious man is because he is right behind Andrew.

Technical capability
Sometimes the footage was a bit shaky but that is due to many problems. The tripod that we had wasn’t that productive. The footage filmed on the tripod was on a wonky angle so we decided to film several shots handheld which was successful. We hope that we will not have this problem in our Thriller opening.

Overall
Overall I think that the problems we had experienced was not too bad on our preliminary task. There is use of good shots and camera angles and continuity. Our Thriller piece could be made stronger if the acting was a much more serious. We will film an investigation piece and I think the range of camera angles makes it more interesting to watch.
