The film features:
- Javier Bardem
- Tommy Lee Jones
- Josh Brolin
- Kelly MacDonald
The film is about a man who steals 2 million dollars he encountered from a drug deal that went wrong. It also has created a chase between himself, a hit-man and a sheriff.
The trailer is effective in passing on the fact that this
film is a thriller. The trailer is full of fast paced action scenes. There is
slow editing to calm the audience and fast editing to blow the audience’s
attention.
The trailer can be directed to the older audience via to the
mature, graphic and violent contents. This could be extended to an older
teen/young adult market also because of the exciting nature and action in the film.
In the opening scene it has
a large and dark background. The sheriff’s voice was the only voice that could
be heard and the sound of nature. That brings up the feel of being alone.
The characters wearing the
costumes tell us what their role is. The cop is dressed in specific western cop
suit and then the villain is dressed in black. Because of seeing the villain so
early it tells us that he will be a crucial part of the film.
Anton Chigurh is the
character we know least about but he is the first character we see. Because he
has a certain limit of speech we don’t know much about him or know why he does
what he does.
His action clearly tells us
he is a killer. Watching him he looks like he has no emotion or mercy for the
people he kills. His silent and sly movement produces suspense and tension
making the audience to feel anxious.
He is strange because he
shows no reason for being who he is. He enjoys transferring fear into others. We
see a shadow game of life that he uses a coin toss to determine whether his
victim will live or not.
His costume is simple and
black which shows how dark and casual he is because it blends in with his
nature. He is blank character who doesn't care.
No matter what happens to
him he keeps going until he has completed his task, which shows his determined
and strong.
