Sound Evaluation
Diegetic sound:
When we was recording the diegetic sound we used a
microphone to get the sound much clearer. In our exercise there is diegetic
sound of a dialogue, crashing and banging. This dialogue is so important
because it exposes the plot of the story and the thrilling twist in the end of
the story. It is clearly a cross-examination but the cross-examiner is
the wrong person. In actual fact the body guard is the one who is
behind it all. Without the dialogue it wouldn’t make sense.
Non-diegetic sound:
The non-diegetic sound that we had used was at a
period of the flash back when the body guard is seen stealing the money aid to
create a strange feel and show the twist and thrill.
On screen sound:
We had used on screen sound, this is when we see
the door handle being opened and then we could hear the parts moving inside it.
We could also hear sound of banging a chair and can see the cross-examiner wriggling.
Off screen sound:
We have also included off screen sound just as on
screen. Then the cross examination continues, mid-way through we hear the sound
of the door opening and footsteps come in. Because of having this off screen
sound an enigma code has begun. The audience have started to wonder who has
just walked into the room and why has the main man has not paid any attention?
It makes the audience determined to find who this slyly mysterious man has
walked in. I think this is the best part of our exercise.
Parallel sound:
There is a very clear use of parallel sound when
the non-diegetic music is being played. It’s a very creepy cold sound which
take the last piece in the puzzle because of what the situation is about. We
have just uncovered the truth about the bodyguard as he was the one who had
stolen the money. So then now the twist has begun and a strange and dark atmosphere
has started between the guard and the cross –examiner because of the truth
about the money. The body guard has a grudge against the cross-examiner it’s
hard to think that they have trust between themselves so it creates a thrilling
thrive. I think this is a great piece of parallel sound.
Sound bridge:
We has issues with the sound bridge when we was
recording. We had to film the sequence three times because of a faulty microphone.
We wanted to use the sound bridge to show the flashback but we had found it
hard to do it so we decided not to do it at.
Contrapuntal sound:
We did not participate contrapuntal sound because
it did not fit in our short sequence because it would look and sound confusing
which won’t make it look clever nor thrilling.
